What do I need to take a shower?

We do not require anything of our guests except for signing a waiver at your first visit.  We provide soap/shampoo/conditioner/towels and washcloths. We operate on a first come, first serve basis. 

My church/work/business wants to partner with you? What does that look like?

We love this question! In what ways would you like to partner with us?

  • Host a hygiene drive? See our infograph on hosting a successful hygiene drive. We graciously accept your donation drop off during any one of our scheduled shower services. 

  • Volunteer with Moving Waters during shower service

    • We love our volunteers! Please see our volunteer signup genius on our website.  If you have a special talent you’d like to share as a volunteer, ie, providing haircuts, please email our shower operations manager, Keri, at keri@movingwaters-houston.org

  • Volunteer with Moving Waters off-site. 

    • We are always in need of volunteers to help with organizing our inventory and preparing for shower service.  Please contact Keri at keri@movingwaters-houston.org to schedule an opportunity. 

  • We want to provide food for a shower location, how do we do that? 

  • Our church/organization/etc is doing an outreach event, can Moving Waters join us?

    • We are honored to be invited to participate in your outreach event! Due to our weekly schedule, we do not currently participate in outreach events but we are happy to recommend some potential organizations that might be able to help. 

  • Our church/organization/etc wants to be a partner location for weekly shower service.  How can we partner in this way? 

    • We are always excited to learn about potential partner locations.  Please review our site readiness guide to see the required logistics to make shower service a success at your location! 

    • Let’s schedule a phone call and get to know each other.  We want to partner with like-minded organizations when we serve our unhoused sisters and brothers.  Please fill out the contact form online in order to guide our phone call! 

    • We want to meet you in person by coming out to your site and seeing it in person! We’ll make sure all the necessary facilities are in place and begin fostering a warm, welcoming relationship with our new potential partners!

    • After our site visit has concluded, Moving Waters will discuss with our board of directors everything we have learned from and about our new potential partners.  We will review our organizational readiness and let you know where we stand and next steps from there. 

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, our EIN is 84-2861230.  If you need a donation receipt, please send email info@movingwaters-houston.org. 

What kind of items can we donate?

  • Please refer to our hygiene drive information. 

  • New, in package socks and underwear

  • Gently used, clean towels. 

  • We are limited on our storage capabilities. Please donate clothing to our partner locations as they are the ones that distribute clothing. 

Can children volunteer?

All of us at Moving Waters are parents and love children, however we do not provide opportunities for children to volunteer at shower service.  If you’d like for your child to make a difference with Moving Waters, we invite you to host a hygiene drive as a family or speak to us about off site volunteer opportunities.
