Celebrating the Peacemaker Award at Moving Waters

Recently, Moving Waters Houston was honored to receive the Peacemaker Award, a recognition given to those who embody compassion, service, and the work of building peace in their communities. Each year, the award given by the Houston Peace and Justice Center shines a light on groups across Houston who are working in unique and powerful ways to restore dignity and hope.

Past recipients of the Peacemaker Award include respected leaders and organizations such as Dr. Peter Hotez and Dr. Maria Elena Bottazzi for their work in global health, and Meals on Wheels Houston for their dedication to serving our neighbors in need. We are honored to be represented beside these inspiring changemakers.

For our team, this is more than an award or title, but a reminder of why we show up everyday for our neighbors. Through showers, clean clothing, and moments of conversation, we strive to restore dignity and share hope with those experiencing homelessness. These simple acts, though small on their own, come together to create spaces of peace where people feel seen and cared for.

The Peacemaker Award belongs and is a reflection of the faithfulness of our volunteers, the generosity of our supporters, and the resilience of our guests. Together, we create the very heartbeat that drives our journey forward, and we are honored to receive this award that reflects our strength and commitment.
